DISKO MIKS MADNESS

Here's a batch of fresh disco tapes. Most of the mixes can be downloaded by clicking on the players below... First one out is the Disco Deviance mix by Pete Herbert and co-spinner Dicky Trisco for the late July Vintage Festival in London. The mixtape contains back to back favorites such as the BT Express classic Does It Feel Good To Youthe Ron Basejam remix of Alena's Changes, an edit of the Diana Ross disco anthem Upside Down and a remake of the Hall & Oates classic I Can't Go For That.

Other Vintage Festival spinners include Disco Bloodbath, Leftside Wobble and legendary disco and electro funk DJ Greg Wilson. Here's Wilsons live mix from the festival. Opening track is the New York remix of Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood (which can be downloaded here), followed by Gino Soccio - Try It Out. Third track is the Cheryl Lynn disco stomper Got To Be Real, followed by other stompers such as Can't Fake the Feeling by Geraldine Hunt and a Cosmic Boogie edit of Talking Heads - Slippery People.

Newcomers to the disco scene are Tiger & Woods aka Larry & David. This mysterious duo released the debut album Through the Green earlier this year, which contains a sweet batch of disco edits and slo-mo sounds. Here's their mix for Beats in Space.

Disko Selectors aka Deeman & Roi Canda from Valladolid, Spain has selected some recent disco sounds. Favorite tracks include brand new edits from Majesty's Pleasure and Pete Herbert (posted previously here and here) - as well as the Todd Terje edit of Land of Hunger. (The Terje track can be downloaded here. For more Terje edits, click here).

Superbreak has released a new EP of disco delight (posted previously) and put some recent tracks into this Cosmic Soul mixtape. It includes edits of some all time fave early night jams such as Rien Ne Va Plus by Funk Factory (reworked by Gazeebo) and Don't Tell Me Tell Her by Odyssey (reworked by Superbreak).

Here's another live mix - this one by London-based DJ Rory Phillips. Opening track is the Kraftwerk classic The Model, followed by the Prins Tomas and Lindstrom remix of Locussolus - I Want It. Included in the mixtape are some of Phillips' own remixes, as well as remixes by Jacques Renault and Aeroplane.

1979... It's dancing time! The Legendary 1979 Orchestra serves up a 2 hour live mix recorded at the Poolsize Fest this summer. Opening track is The Groovers edit of Minnie Riperton - Inside My Love (posted previously), followed by music from Tipo, Jimmy The Twin, Volta Cab, Kastil, Nicholas, dbo, Jeremy Glenn, Alkalino, Social Disco Club, Munga & Deep&Disco, Rayko, Andrew Clarke, Tensnake and the 1979 one man band himself.

Three in a row... Trujillo aka Andres Astorga from Caracas, Venezuela presents his August sounds. Opening track is a re-edit of the Mtume classic Juicy Fruit... Tony Johns presents some of his favorite things, including one my favorite tracks of the year - the Ooft rework of Melba Moore's Love's Comin' At Ya (Make U Mine)... Only Children released the track Don't Stop earlier this year (posted here), which is included in their mix below. Other tracks are the Disco Deviance edit of Aretha Franklin - Jump to It and the latest Todd Terje track Ragysh.

Time to cool down and chill out. Cosmic Boogie serves up a sweet batch of soulful mellowness. DJ Same presents some AOR disco sounds, including reworks of Al Green and Dolly Parton. Last out is the Disco Tech after party mix.
